“As our Caravan tour of Costa Rica wound down, we spent two nights at this resort. The rooms are very nice, comfortable beds, beautiful grounds and landscaping, and those on the tour not from Florida thought the beaches were wonderful. The food is as good there as anywhere in the country, but nothing to get excited about except for the fresh fruit. The mixed drinks are pretty good too. The resort is spread out in a hacienda-style with a large entry courtyard. Very nice. If you aren’t getting this stay as part of a tour as we did, it can be rather expensive but probably worth it. Expect to pay for your WiFi. It’s not included in the room rate.”

Room Tips: “If you don’t need a handicapped accessible room you might want to indicate that when reserving, as you may be assigned a room like that and find yourself with a very odd shower arrangement. Also indicate that you would like a room on the second or third floor with a good view.”

“Another great stay! The staff remembered us from our prior trips & the warmth of the staff at the beach, the restaurants is exceptional. Vladimir at the Azul bar, Evelio, Christian, Hector, Karla & Adolfo are amazing! Stefany in the concierge office is a great help!
The ocean is warm, and calm in the mornings. By the afternoon, the waves are quite big & boogie boarding is ideal.
The rooms are clean, appropriately appointed for a resort of this price. The views were gorgeous, but we were rarely in our room!
The restaurants are all very good. Not Michelin contenders, but good. The Tamarine is our favorite. Great curry, soups and satay. Grilled lobster was pretty delish. For lunch, the Azul grill’s lettuce wrap fajitas are spot on. Grilled organic chicken at Mansita is good, and the Sabenero is a solid choice.
The perfect cappuccino can be found at the Mansita for breakfast.
We LOVE coming here. It is easy, safe, fun, and a sure bet for perfect weather during * their summer. 98 everyday & not a cloud in the sky!
The caliber of guests varies greatly & I am pleased to say that we met great families & that understood that 1) they were guests in another country & TRIED to speak Spanish 2) tipped in cash- every real traveler knows that this is how you show your appreciation. 3) they were patient. Americans need to slow down.
These are the nicest people. The country is beautiful & the resort is a great way to enjoy Costa Rica.
We will be going back!
The only complaint – take American dollars & keep them for tips. The hotel refused to change my bills into smaller ones, day after day. How does a large resort not have any change? It’s simple, a gentleman walked inside while I waited with his family outside & he was given change, no problem. The front office is arrogant & a bad introduction to the exceptional staff that awaits you else in the resort.”
